Lauren Mosco

"Finally, something I'm good at." This is what I said when I entered one of my photographs in a contest in high school and won. I have a learning disability and autism and have a hard time in social situations, so high school was hard for me. But after I won the contest, I knew that I wanted to be a photographer.

Lauren Mosco has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. Her photography has been exhibited in galleries and published in numerous publications.

These photographs were created at night using a slow shutter speed and colored lights. Afterward, I looked at each abstract image and felt that they described how I, as a differently abled person, feel sometimes. The darkness that surrounds the light paintings merely acts to show the beauty of the colors and shapes. These photographs represent the positivity of being differently abled and the hope that the world would accept me as I am.
